Panel of human resource experts to discuss performance management as part of business strategy
Dallas, TX (PRWEB) September 09, 2011 — Carol Jenkins, Ph.D., vice president of consulting services at Assess Systems, will moderate a panel discussion at the 2011 People in Consumer Goods & Services Summit to be held at Hotel 71 on Sept. 12-13 in Chicago.
On Sept. 13 at 1:30 p.m., Jenkins will serve as moderator for the panel discussion, “Aligning Talent Strategy with Business Objectives Through Assertive Performance Management.” Fellow panelists Jim Reilly, director of talent management for Walgreens, and Marie McCarthy, vice president of human resources for L.L. Bean, will share how they have aligned their performance management processes with business objectives and financial metrics.
“The approach to assertive performance management can take many forms,” said Jenkins. “The typical first step is to understand business objectives followed by clearly defining competencies and behaviors that people must demonstrate in order to perform at an effective level. This can significantly reduce turnover, increase bench strength and propel companies toward their goals.”
The retail industry faces unique talent challenges. Coping with often sky-high turnover, the modern retailer has to focus on retention, time-to-competence and maximizing workforce productivity. Retailers must get customers into stores and online while hiring the best employees and reducing costs.
The 2011 People in Consumer Goods & Services Summit will tackle real-world workforce issues that impact the retail industry’s bottom line. Practitioner-led sessions will address the latest strategies in recruitment, workforce planning, leadership development, engagement and retention that can drive increased productivity and business excellence in the retail and consumer goods market. The Summit maintains a 70/30 split between practitioners from end-user companies and vendors that provide talent management and recruitment solutions in order to guarantee the best possible experience for speakers and attendees.
